What is an OK Certified Family Positive Workplace?

A family-positive workplace is an employer that offers policies to help employees balance their work and family obligations. Such policies include flexible work schedules and locations, child care, support for elder care, family leave options, and other family-positive benefits. These benefits enable employees to more easily fulfill their family and work commitments. Family-positive workplace practices benefit employers, families, and society. Research shows employers gain in employee recruitment, retention, loyalty, and productivity, all of which contribute to the bottom line. Families gain in the ability to balance work and family obligations, reduce stress, and better quality of family life and life in general. Society gains because family-positive policies lead to more stable families with time to contribute to their communities and better outcomes for children.

Our purpose is to provide HR Professionals and other business leaders with:

  • The business case for family positive policies
  • Education and resources for employees with young children
  • Quality childcare resources and employer child expense assistance information
  • Flexible hours, job share, and part-time scheduling ideas
  • Resources for management training on understanding the challenges of caregiving employees
