Raising Resilient Oklahomans

What is Resilience?

The ability to thrive, adapt and cope despite tough and stressful times.

Raising Resilient Oklahomans – Our Resilience Initiative

Since October 2017, the Foundation has been building this Resilience initiative we call Raising Resilient Oklahomans which now has three major components: Resilience Documentary Screenings, Self-Healing Communities Network and NEAR Science – Beyond ACEs training.

We began by offering free screenings of the Resilience Documentary to organizations, school faculty and staff, faith groups and more. This led to the Raising Resilient Oklahomans! Summit in March of 2018 with keynote speakers Dr. Rob Anda and Susan Craig, PhD. You can find videos and slides from all presenters here: https://www.pacesconnection.com/g/raising-resilient-oklahomans/resources. Since that event, we have followed the momentum both in Oklahoma and across the country. We are committed to providing support for this movement focused on science-informed training and strategies. This led to the Self-Healing Communities workshop in 2019 and now growing network.

To resource and nurture this network, we add the Community Resilience Trainers, a group of “master trainers’ who deliver the NEAR Science – Beyond ACEs training across the state. Our focus is on helping to build cross-sector teams and/or bringing together existing teams to work more efficiently and effectively together in strengthening and healing our communities.

“If we can weave this science through the different professions and put it into the hands of people, they will do very wise things with it!”
