Self-Healing Communities

Raising Resilient Oklahomans is a growing network of Self-Healing Communities supported by the Potts Family Foundation. It grew out of a workshop we sponsored in October 2019 led by Laura Porter of ACE Interface.
This is a comprehensive framework for building community capacity for transformational change by developing cross-sector networks and nurturing and empowering local leaders to think about the whole system and not just their part of the system.
The Self-Healing Communities framework was developed and successfully implemented by Laura Porter in Washington state in the 1990s. Using this model, communities across the country have been able to make dramatic reductions in rates of health issues and social problems, thereby making the prospect of a better world for their children.
We began with 20 community/county teams from across the state and continue to grow this learning community via monthly Zoom meetings on the 4th Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
