Union Schools Education Foundation

The Pre-K Transition Camp, a critical bridge program that helps its youngest students transition successfully into school with confidence and a well-rounded support system, will benefit from these grant funds. Pre-K Camp began in 2012 with three schools and has since expanded to all 13 elementary sites across the district, prioritizing students from underserved communities and those with little or no prior early learning experience.

Many of these students enter school at a disadvantage academically and socially, while their families often face barriers navigating an unfamiliar education system. Pre-K Camp addresses both challenges simultaneously by preparing students for school success and empowering families as active partners in their child’s education. Pre-K Camp immerses students in the routines and expectations of the school day while building foundational academic and social-emotional skills. At the same time, families gain practical tools and knowledge to support their child’s development at home and to successfully navigate the school system.
