Sunbeam Family Services’ mission is to build brighter futures with all children and families. Established in 1907, Sunbeam helps over 4,100 Central Oklahoma children and families learn, grow, and thrive each year through early childcare and education with specialized wraparound support for entire family systems, including mental health services, and programming for foster families and grandparents raising grandchildren.
Through its nationally recognized early childhood and parent education programs, Sunbeam prepares babies and toddlers to enter kindergarten through full-day, year-round early care and education. Its traditional legacy foster care program provides temporary care and supportive services in a home environment for children, and finally, to provide robust wraparound care and accessible mental health services.
This funding will provide mental health consultation and support to families in its foster care program using the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation model where licensed therapists provide individual consultation, training and education to support and ensure foster families and the children in their care are safe, supported, and thriving.
To further bolster mental health consultation, Sunbeam also will create a Circle of Security group for its foster families. The Circle of Security Parenting program provides foster parents support, insight, and new ways of thinking about foster children’s needs.
