Union School Foundation

Pre-K Camp, launched in 2012 with three schools now serves all 13 elementary sites in the district, prioritizing children from underserved communities and those without prior early learning experiences. The program prepares students for preschool by introducing classroom routines, literacy, math, and social-emotional skills, while also equipping families to navigate the school system. Certified early childhood educators lead activities that promote language, numeracy, collaboration, and independence through play-based learning such as Circle Time, Centers, and Story Time.

Key components include Morning Family Time, where parents and children engage in math and literacy together, and Parent Meetings, which provide families with tools and connections to resources. Screenings, including language assessments, help identify developmental needs early. Social-emotional learning, grounded in Dr. Rick Snyder’s Hope Theory, fosters self-regulation, confidence, and connection. By easing transitions, empowering families, and strengthening teacher-parent partnerships, Pre-K Camp lays a strong foundation for school readiness and long-term student success.
