Our Daily Bread & Resource Center

Funding to Our Daily Bread & Resource Cener will support an additional Healthy Steps Specialist for Payne County. Families of young children in Payne County and surrounding communities (Drumright, Oilton, and Agra) will be served with these funds. Having a second Healthy Step Specialist in Stillwater has enabled that program to stay within the walls of the Stillwater Pediatric Clinic, and also to come to Our Daily Bread and its Cushing Marketplace Satellite to meet families where they are, equip them with information, and follow up for more in-depth questions and concerns. Cushing itself has no pediatric practitioners. For more than a decade, Payne County has experienced the benefit of one Healthy Steps Specialist, working first through the County Health Department, and then basing out of Stillwater Medical Center Pediatrics. Healthy Steps Specialists meet with families to discuss typical development and behaviors, common stressors, and explore strategies to address the family’s and child’s age-based needs, focusing on early childhood. This team approach empowers parents to use the most helpful information, tools and services during this crucial time in their child’s brain development.
