Calm Waters Center for Children and Families

Calm Waters will use its grant to launch the new Infant Mental Health Grief Support Program to better help the youngest children and their caregivers after a major loss. Today, many families with infants and toddlers cannot access Calm Waters’ services because the agency does not yet have trained staff or the right environment to safely support children under the age of three. This grant will help remove these barriers by training the Calm Waters team in the Child-Parent Psychotherapy model and creating the structure needed to serve infants, toddlers, and their caregivers. This grant also will allow Calm Waters to install changing tables in its restrooms and equip support rooms with age-appropriate materials, safety features and calming items so infants and toddlers can be present during services. These changes will provide caregivers with a safe, comfortable place to take care of their child’s needs during sessions and make then agency a more welcoming and practical place for families with very young children.
